Craig van Heerden
BSc. Health Sciences (WITS - Current)

For most of my life western science was my teacher. An affinity with numbers and a fascination for physics I have always focused on research and design involving the latest developments in the associated fields and I even completed the first two years of the BSc. Mechanical Engineering course. Fortunate enough to be somewhat personally fulfilled, my direction has always aimed at the betterment of humanity through contribution.
Dissecting the issues facing humanity though, left me doubtful of making any significant contribution from the engineering field, as the problems we are facing as a species do not lie on the physical plane in which we are all so intently focused. It became evident that what we see and experience to be at fault are merely symptoms of a much deeper mental and spiritual 'disconnection'. Realizing how much work my very own mind needed, as well as the possibilities and opportunities that lay ahead if I chose to tackle them left me obsessively reading and learning everything I could get my hands onto. Understanding that much of my own life must come to revolve around attaining a vastly improved mental and physical state, as well as sharing what I learn with others on the way, left me with no option but to redirect myself and thus left the engineering for a BSc. Health Sciences which I am currently still completing.
Anyone who treads this path any reasonable distance will undoubtedly find themselves delving into the ancient wisdom of the East as it has clearly been understood what the real problems facing humanity are for a very long time in this part of the world and infinite wisdom and experience awaits any who look for it.
